| "Special" class of this rare high mountain tea offers the opportunity to taste a legend at the birth of which the tea master Wu Li Zhen himself reportedly stood, with an attractive quality to price ratio. Meng Ding Huang Ya dates from the period of the reign of the Shang Jin dynasty and ranks amongst the five best known yellow teas worldwide. It offers a specific aroma and taste difficult to compare with any other tea, which is very refined but complex, with hints of steamed chestnuts. In the mouth it forms a delicate, silky mineral coating, which prolongs the tasting experience. During the reign of the Tang dynasty this tea was an emperor’s tea, and can be read about in a range of famous Chinese books. The limited annual production, together with the limits on export frequently results in higher prices of this tea towards the end of the season, up to several times its original value. |
